And the beat goes on…

They tried to put Groove Scoundrels away, however, I found it hiding in the back of some old bookshelves, dusted it off, and put it back in its place on the web. Hi, this is Michelle, aka Sonicgeekette, Steven’s leading lady and wife. It is with great sadness that I write that Steven joined that great band in the sky and sings with the angel choir now. And, I’m sure he is thrilled to be jamming with the heavenly hosts. His keyboards don’t need tuning, and his strings don’t need replacing, ever, now. And he has the finest pedalboard you could ever image, so much so, he left his sweet pedalboard behind. (Sorry, Keeley.) Steven left us to join this band last year at Thanksgiving time.

A man is playing an electric bass guitar while looking at music mixing software on his computer monitorsSteven enjoyed making music with anyone that wanted to jam with him. He loved writing and producing, and especially loved to share his music with anyone that would listen. He had music in his soul and it flowed through him. It was his essence and he breathed it in just as we do air. He always had a beat going whether he had sticks in his hands or not, drumming his hands, tapping his fingers or feet, and at times, waving his hand and wrist with the vibrations in the air. When he was playing, he was free. Any day that Steven got to play his music or get in his studio and mix music was a good day for him. Last year when Steven was so sick and in and out of the hospital, one of the first things he would do when got home from the hospital was pick up his 12 strong and start strumming. A few days before he passed, he was blessed with a visit from some musician friends who brought their guitar into the hospital. I know this was a great comfort to him (and to those on his floor) and soothed his soul.

Like the song says, the beat goes on, and so does his music. Just today I saw a post from Lonely Oak Radio on Twitter that said they were playing “Off The Cuff/Gettin Caught Up” by Groove Scoundrels. Groovy, Baby! Groove Scoundrels music is still available on YouTube, Reverb Nation, Spotify, occasionally played by Lonely Oak Radio, and of, course, here, the Groove Scoundrels website. This post is dedicated with love in memory of Steven.
